Full Group Meeting (11/2)- Upgrades and Purchasing

Summary: We met briefly to discuss upgrades and estimate the parts to be purchased.

Purchasing:

Approximating the amount of material based on the rough design sketched in the previous blog, we will need enough acrylic to accommodate two of each of the following rectangles 12" by 11", 7" by 11", and 7" by 10". We will order 5 12" by 24"  by 3/16" sheets, 3 for use and 2 extras. In addition to this, we will order 6 2' by 1" by 1/2" bars for the racks (again 2 are extras).

We need 4 total stepper motors and 3 total motor shields (we currently have 2 motor shields). We will also need an ultrasonic sensor and a gyroscopic sensor.

A complete parts list will be created.

Upgraded Body:

The body will be designed to assemble with fasteners as opposed to permanent glue. This means that since the stepper motors can be bolted to the side walls, the major consideration is attaching the base to the side walls. This will be accomplished with finger joints, that have holes for wooden dowels that will run between the two sides. The sides support the dowels and the dowels support the base.

Here is a crude model:

Executive Summary:

We will each complete our parts by 5pm Wednesday, to be edited by the submission at 5pm on Thursday.
