Team Butlerbot: Initial Blog Post


Team Name: Butlerbot

Team Members: Jesse Knowlton, Shyam Sheth, Michael Manser, and Brendan Victor


Project: The design is a "mobile autonomous beverage delivery system." More specifically, it is a small robot that can transport drinks and other objects around your home. The unique aspect to its design is that it will have the capability to raise itself up so that you do not have to bend down in order to load or unload it, making it user friendly for people on crouches who may need to carry items around their home. The robot will also be able to use this same lifting system in order climb up and down stairs.

Goals: Before the project end date on December 4th, the robot will be able to:
  • Move in a predetermined path
  • Lift up (Climb stairs)
  • Carry a drink without spilling

Additional goals should time permit include:
  • Developing a system to detect and maneuver around obstacles
  • Developing the capability to remotely communicate with the robot
  • Developing an automatic system for loading the robot
